Unveiling the Magic of In Home Photography Sessions
Hey there, fellow memory-makers! If you’re anything like the awesome families I’ve had the pleasure of photographing, you might be wrestling with the idea of having an in home photography session.
Maybe you’re thinking your place is too messy, too cramped, or just not fancy enough like all those homes on insta. Well, let me spill the beans on why setting up a lifestyle family photography session at home is the best thing ever!
Real Moments, Real Smiles
The magic of an in home photography session? Authenticity.
Your family is most comfortable at home, right? So why not capture those real smiles, genuine laughter, and spontaneous moments right where they happen every day? No stiff poses and forced grins!
We will usually plan ahead to do a few activities you and your kids love to do together, plus one or two ‘special’ activities the kids may not normally do, but are SOOO FUN! Such as jumping on the beds, or jumping off the couch. At home you have all the kids favorite toys, books and activities that will bring those excited smiles to their faces. You might love baking with the kids, or playing with the dog in the backyard. What precious moments you could capture of real everyday life in *THIS* moment of your family’s story. In home photography is all about keeping it real, authentic and meaningful for your family.
Some other activity ideas for your in home photography session:
1. Backyard picnic or tea party
2. Bubble games
3. Pillow fight
4. Storytime
5. Baking together
6. Tickle time
7. Couch snuggles
8. Drawing/Painting
9. Water fight
10. Nerf wars
Don’t stress the mess!
First things first, let’s tackle the messy home myth. Honestly, whose house isn’t a bit chaotic? Toys scattered, a few dishes in the sink – that’s life, my friend!
Instead of stressing over perfection, let’s celebrate the real, lived-in feel of your home. Those little imperfections that tell your unique story. Like the worn sofa where the family gathers to watch movies or play board games, or the kids messy face while licking the cake batter from the spoon, and mum or dad reading the kids a favorite book in their bedroom surrounded by the toys they love. These are the stories behind the smiles, the evidence of family life well-lived and well-loved. These are the everyday stories that you will treasure the most!
Size DOESN’T matter!
Got a cozy space? No worries! Small spaces can be the most magical. Trust me; I’ve completed an entire photoshoot in one small bedroom, and you would never know when you see the photos. Skilled photographers know how to make the most of any space, turning it into a canvas that showcases your family’s connection and love. Size really doesn’t matter when it comes to in home photography sessions. All I really need is 1 or 2 rooms with good light. That’s it!
Meaningful Backdrops, Everywhere You Look
Your home is a treasure trove of memories waiting to be captured. Whether it’s the kiddos’ artwork on the fridge, the cozy reading nook, or that little cubby house that the kids *kind of* helped dad build. These are the backdrops that make your story uniquely yours. Let’s incorporate your personal history into the photos, so every image tells a tale that’s close to your heart.
At the end of the day, it’s not about having a perfect home; it’s about having a home filled with love. An in home photography session is a chance to freeze moments of your family’s journey – the real, raw, and beautiful journey. It’s not just a photoshoot; it’s a way to capture the essence of your family, just as you are.
So, don’t sweat the small stuff, kick back in your favorite corner, and let’s turn your home into the stage for your family’s own blockbuster. I promise, you’ll look back on these photos and feel the love, laughter, and warmth of home every single time. Let’s make some magic!
Here’s what one family have to say about their in home photography session
I highly recommend Sandie, we had our in home photography session just before Christmas 2023. Sandie had spoken to me about our vision for our baby + family photoshoot beforehand and had also checked in several times with us before the date.
As it was a first time for me Sandie also provided me with information in regard to what we should wear and how to set the environment. I had hesitations on not having enough space, having too much clutter as well as not having enough natural light due to living in a townhouse. But Sandie brought our vision to life by bringing several props, ensuring we have the session at a certain time due to light as well as helping us remove some clutter out of the frame of the shot.
She also provided us with a lot of time for the session; including changing little bub as well as time to ensure bub was fed and happy. The photos came out beautiful and at no given time did I feel uncomfortable as our little one was very happy with Sandie. I would absolutely give Sandie a call next time we require another photoshoot for our little baby girl.
